Hi All,

Just sold, With the permission of it's proud new owner dhhirsch,  I present yet another fine example of a 1928-29 Lone Eagle.

What is intriging here is that the caseback serial # indicates 1928 but the movement is double date stamped with both the cresent moon and the shield indicating 1928-29.

I believe the band is original. For sure it's period correct.

A very beautiful watch, for sure.

Although the Lone Eagle 1 was only ever depicted on a leather band, and the bracelet now on the watch was first seen in 1934, on that years President model.

Actually we see the introduction of these link bracelets in ads dated as early as 1930. Check out the 1930 Sky King, maybe not exactly the same but still, the style was out there.

Either way, it does compliment the watch well.

Double date code with a shield would make it a 1929 and the only mk1 known from that year.

 Very unusual and rare.

My thought was that it was produced early 1929 and that Bulova was using up old inventory to put them together and added the second stamp in the production year.
