Watch Description

Another beautiful example of this still unknown Bulova. All watches need a name (at least at my house they do). I call this one "Not a Templar", mostly because it's not, partly because there have been several discussions about this case style and everyone agrees that it is "NOT A TEMPLAR". Period Gemex solid strap type bracelet that is slightly more comfortable to wear than it looks (empahsis on 'slightly')

Nice

I like these old bands.  How they look.  I don't like how they wear, and their survivorship makes them harder to find than the watch on which they were attached.  I'v bought several watches to see what the band looks like in person, while hoping the case/movement are at least attached to the band when it arrives.  The hard part for me is putting the case/mvnt in my "parts" stack and not having delusions about repair and restoration....   When it arrives, I convienently forget that I bought it for the band.

   "Edwin"?  1928 ad.

The Edwin in the ad does not appear to have engraving on the horizontals. Also, the verticals appear to have engraving on the outboard edge and is smooth on the inboard side. The subject watch has engraving on the entire front of the bezel.

I found a hardcopy of above Sat Evening Post online, but $39 is out of my price range for a clearer copy of potentially one Bulova ad in this edition. I offered seller $10 for a high res scan of this one page & told them they could keep the original. Noreply to date. I searched for hard copy of Sat. Evening Post at US public libraries and found several in continental US which have them in reserve collections. Problem is they don't do interlibrary loans on reserve materials & I'm ~3000 miles away. Amazing what one can do with a library card, but not from ~3k miles away. Is anyone in continental US going to a major library any time soon? :)

I have the same watch. My case reads Pat. Jan. 1927, then Bulova, then 14k ,gold filled, and finally New York. If you (hopefully!) identify your watch please let me know. Thanks
