Geoff

Beautiful Sky King. First class finest kind. Very scarce bracelet. The hands look a bit short to me. I have 3 Sky Kings and your minute hand is the size of my hour hands. No biggie!

Thank You Wayne - I've always wondered about the the hand size as well.......but then, I'm the LUCKY one because I have small hands too, to go with my slightly less than 7" wrist, which means I get to WEAR this baby.  As original as this watch came to me, I just always assumed these were hand variants, lord knows everything else seems to be varied. Maybe one day I'll find a different set of hands  ( I think you kow what I mean when I confess to have considered a watch on "that one" auction site "just to get my hands on the hands"), until then, I'll babysit this watch for the next generation.

A truely magnificant find.

The stumpy cathederal hands were used on the Series III Lone Eagle (top watch) and Sky King

Sorry about the low res, but you can see that the hour hand is stumpy like Geoffs, although maybe not that stumpy.

I know what you mean about the hands. The proper hands for the 1924 to 1930 watches seem to be a limiting factor anymore. I now have a Lone Eagle cut corner & a Richard varient that I need hands for.

Ad from Lisa matching the XXX pattern.

Blow-up with more detail.

EDIT:- Case serial no. gives a date of 1931, not 1930.

Case serial no./would make it 1931.

What is the movement date mark? Is the case design  like this one, without the barred shading on the top and bottom of bezel, sometimes mistakenly called "chevrons", and "XX" engraved bezel?

Chevrons are like this:  >.

It has like little fish  around the dial in gold The date mark is hidden by the dust cover and i really  dont want to mess with it as this watch is in awesome condition.

Can you take a pic of the inside of the case back, to verify the serial number? Cheers.

There are sometimes two numbers, one on the back, and one inside. The one inside is used to date the case, pre 1934/35.

Nice watch, Jim!
