Has anyone seen this model advertised in anything but white gold plate?

I haven't, not yellow rgp or solid either.

Sorry for the late reply Zap!

I think the "gold" model you saw on ebay was possibly a re-plated model, done in the wrong colour.

In all my searches, I've not yet seen an ad for this model in other than white gp.

Bob.

Ditto Bob's comment. I don't recall ever seeing any ad or even watch example in anything other than white.

Gents, Just to say mine is exactly the same, no markings as to gold content. So I did an acid test for 10k, 14k, and 18K with no results so I believe they are Nickel plated as I doubt they would have used rhodium back then.

The yellow gold yuo saw has to have been re-plated by someone's request. My replater does whatever I ask for. Nickel I redo in rhodium, white and yellow gold as original.

A caution I will ad is that I don't believe they replate the old gold but strip it and then electro plate the case with a much thinner layer than the original so I don't send many out.

Thanks Shawn.

So, when it's stripped and thinly replated, the plater comes away with more gold than he started with, and gets paid for it? Got to get myself a business like that!

I was cleaning this watch up and added a wonderful nos vintage strap, I want to get the original cathedral hands which I believe should be on this watch. Does anyone know have a set for sale or know what the correct part number is. Thanks for any help! Appreciated!

Replateit(that's the name of the company)explains on their website how they do vintage watches. If they are RGP or gold filled they do not strip the watch but just clean it up some how and fill in the areas with gold loss until it matches the rest.Very interesting concept.I have not had any work done by them but the website shows some very nice results.Check it out.
