Watch Description

Movement marked 15 jewels, adjusted. Case marked Bulova- triangle symbol- 10K Rolled Gold Plate.  Case appears white gold plate. no markings inside except for 4 jeweler's service markings, look to be same jeweler. Not currently running, wound tight,   balance&hairspring seem good,  pretty nice case, hands and dial, I believe. Browsed ad database, but didn't see anything similar.

Watchophilia has the Trident and the Alden, and states in those posts that the GS Crystal for both is the same one.

I'm always looking for the official Bulova model price lists from this (and other) dates, as it's able to determine when a model (and variant) came out by when it first appears in the price lists.  They came out quarterly in the 1950's and '60's, with monthly supplements between quarterly (seasonal) editions.  I am fairly sure Bulova released a very similar thing w/ lists in the 1930's.

I took this guy apart last night, gave it a dunk in the ultasonic, pegged, the jewels, demagged, lubed, having issues with winding, setting, but running pretty strong, have no idea about time keeping, as I haven't attached dial and hands.

Gary, is possible that your crystal measurement is closer to 22.0x21.8? I don't see a similarly shaped crystal in the 24x23 size range.

My 1937 GS crystal catalog list's there T717 22.0x21.8 (as Bob states above) as fitting the following:

Alden, Contest, Minute Man, Trident & West Pointer

My Perfit catalog #6 from the late '30's early '40's (not dated) list's the Chancellor only.

I'm sure that the Minute Man listed in the '37 GS catalog is a typo since we all know that the Minute Man takes a completely different crystal and is not even close.

Thanks for the crystal details, Darren.
So if the measurements for the subject are correct, then it is neitherthe Trident or the Alden, as the crystal for these is too small.
If the crystal details are actually nearer the one for the GS catalogue sizes, then the subject is an Alden.

Nice one.

That's the one Darren has down as fitting the Trident, Contest and Alden.
