Watch Description

Date: unknown, assumed 1920s-1930s.  This watch was owned by a family member, and was recently inherited.  Watch is currently not for sale, the watch is posted for informational photograph purposes only. Best guess on the style is either Minuteman or Marshall. The watch is in working order, and the case is 10 karat gold filled. I would like to know the date and if customizing Bulova watches was a common practice during this time period.

I don't think it's a Marshall, bezel appears quite different, but we are comparing an illustration to a photo.

Unknown for now.

Hello everyone,

I recently had the watch looked at by a jeweler in Boston. Here are the photos of the inside of the watch.

I still don't know who customized the watch, Bulova or a private jeweler.

Can anyone recommend a reputable person in the Boston/So. NH area that can give me an appraisal on this piece?

If I don't have any other relatives wishing to take ownership, we might try and offer it up for sale.

Thanks for any assistance or tips you can throw my way.

The date code on the movrt is either 1932 or 1942, either way it does suggest that it has been replaced at some point. This is not unusual and I wouldn't say it affects the value. My feeling is that the watch was customized, quite possibly by Bulova and so would have been a custom order. This is also not that unusual, but we don't see too many surviving now.

I'm at unknown but in any event a firm ID of the watch may be difficult becuase of the custom dial.

Thanks Rev. Bob.

I will now try to find a jeweler or someone to appraise the watch before I sell.
