Older 6AF placed in a replacement non-Bulova case.  OP reports "moon" date symbol on mvnt.  Don't think we see 6AF in 1938.  Not sure if mvnt SN helps back this up, but I think it does.

My question is around the date, This case is not from the 1930's. At best it's 1950's. Should this watch be dated 1938?

Should this

be 1931?

I've checked our 6AF records, and although we have 6AF records this late, they no longer have movement serial numbers.  I think this movement is from 1928.

I wonder how the subject watch movement SN fits in with other 1928 6AF movements?  We have 10 watch records with 6AF movements date coded to 1928 (Crescent Moon).  Below is a list of thier serial numbers:

Hang on here.  I may have got confused on the table above.  Its a query return from our movement serial number search function, and the year which is listed may be for the year of complete watch, not necessarily records containing movements with Crescent Moon date stamps.  Let me check.

But regardless, and directly related to subject watch-this watch record should be Non-Conforming IMO.
