Watch Description

Double date stamp on this gents of both the Crecent Moon and the Arrow.  I'm supposing a movement production of 1937 and then joing witht he case in 1938. Rarer 7 Jewel in a men's watch in the last 30's. Pretty much a engraved Ranger, though I'm sure Bulova has a different name for him. I was hoping someone could appraise this and tell me how much it's worth. =)

Mayhaps it's the engraving that I can't see that is a praleem!

If it looks like a hudson and ticks like a hudson it probably is a hudson. My vote is hudson with out the westfield signature.

Looks a lot like a 36 Ranger. Even the dial is the same except for the seconds register which is slightly curved  on the verticles. I have a 36 Ranger with the 10AE but 15 jewels not 7. Is the case hinged? Mine is.

Here's subject watch next to Nov 1938 ad for Alexander.

Looks pretty close to me, although the Alexander ad looks narrower taller. Camera angle?

If you look at the Banker, it looks "bony" too. It's the artists angle of perspective, taken from the far left of the watches, not head-on.

The dial is an exact match, as is the engraving, though the subjects lugs are worn.

This watch is in the database twice.  It's also at http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1938-unknown-3484  -same case SN and mvnt.  The other record also has a better camera angle.  Check out the caseback shot in subject watch to caseback in duplicate record, and you get and idea of what camera angle can do to a shot's apparent dememsions. The don't even look like the same casebacks. :)  The other record has better pictures, and matches the Alexander better that the pics above.

I posted on that record too, did not realise it was the same watch.

Why post twice?
