Watch Description

I've been the owner of my Great Grandmother's watch for a while now, and I just recently got it fixed so it runs. My mother and I were trying to identify the age when I found this site. Any information you can give me about it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Katie

PS I chose shield as my symbol because I didn't know what the square shield was, the watch dating chart seemed to have only 2 shields, though originally I thought the shape was a blob, so what do I know.

Definitly looks like a shield to me. I will do a search and see what I come up with. Thanks for posting the watch.

Hi Katie - welcome to nyBulova. You're quite fortunate have your grandmothers watch, we think family heirlooms are the best.

At first glance I thought your watch might not be in a genuine Bulova case but it appears that it is marked "Bulova" on the back. I agree that your watch does date to 1939, hopefully we'll find a name for her.

ever feel like You're being watched ?

1941 ad. 'EMPRESS' is the closest found but not a match.

1939 'UNKNOWN'

This is one of those designs that will jump right out of the advert when we finally find one.

I believe this to be a a new model called the "Perisphere" based on the following ad from 1941. Designed after the Perisphere from the New York Worlds Fair which was in 1939 which would be when the watch was made and aligned with the date of this watch.  Interesting watch and glad to finally give it a name.
