The Case is unusual and unfamiliar, is it stamped anywhere?

It's stamped 14k on the back of the clasp and inside the case. There are no other markings on it

It must be a Jeweler Custom with a Bulova movement, aka "Frankenbully"

I have seen a few of these, always solid Gold and garnished with Rubys & Diamonds.

Not a Bulova production watch but a Custom design made by a skilled jeweler for somebody with $$$

Nice watch! Like that lid that goes over the movement!

Thank you for the compliment.  I was unable to find anything with the 5A8 number. I don't even know what watch it used to be. I wish the jeweler would have left a mark somewhere. I'd really love to know the history behind this watch.

The movement is a 5AB, and if the dial is copper colored it probably came from a Rose Gold colored donor watch

Someone with a few $$$ first owned this, have you had it appraised yet??

The history, I gather, would be in the case itself. the movement may have come from another watch or may have just been stock that the jeweler had. It's 5AB not 5A8 which is just the movement model number and has nothing to do with the actual model of the watch itself.

I'm not sure on the background of this particular watch, but over the years I have certainly seen one similar if not the same, advertise on ebay may times. It may be the same one or it maybe a different one.

It's one great looking watch regardless. Have you had it appraised by a jeweler?

I have not had it appraised.  I was trying to see what I could uncover online.  The dial is copper or rose colored. This watch has been in my family for 3 generations.  So unless ebay has been around longer than I think, this would not be the same watch.  Although I have no desire to sell it, I'll bring it in to get appraised, and I'll post my findings out when I learn more. Thank you all for your help. I truly appreciate it.

Ok that being the case that it's been in the family for a while, there was either a jeweler who did a number of these custom jobs or Bulova did in fact sell them like this. It will be interesting to know if it's real gold and gems. If they are it would certainly be in aimed at the upper end of the market and possibly only available in some boutique stores.

I've certainly seen others like it...maybe not exact the same, but certainly very similar.

If this isn't a Bulova case should it be deleted?

It should go into the Non-conforming category, which was formed after this was posted.
