Watch Description

1941 Bulova Unknown 17J 8AE with an Asterisk date stamp, mint Copper & Gold 2-tone Roman Numeral dial with Black highlites, & Blued Diamond style hands. The 14K Pink Gold filled hidden lug case is stamped Bulova on the inside of the caseback, and measures 31.3mm lug to lug, and 21mm wide. It is fitted with a new 16mm Burgandy leather strap with a Gold buckle. The crystal pictured is the closest size I could find to fit it, and had to be trimed down lenghtwise a mm or so , but it did fit according to curvature & width like a glove.

The case looks like  the Commander pictured in the 1940 database ad, but is Pink Gold and has a different dial, could be a letter variant that we do not have a ad for yet?

This watch has been very well cared for and still winds, sets and runs smooth.

Very nice Greg!

Although the 'COMMANDER' is advertised with the all Rose Dial and the few examples seen have been configured the same way it's possible that the Watch is an unseen variant. (?)....We've seen the Dial before.

I agree that this might be a Commander, and this dial style was sure popular on the early 40's Bulova's, the Beacon, President, American Eagle, plus a few Unknown's come to mind...and they all seem to be 1940-42 models.
