watch was awarded to my uncle and passed to me upon his death. the back contains an inscription from "Record and Mail" which i assume was a news organization of some kind, though i have been unable to find any useful references.
i think it is a 1942 Conrad, but i can't be sure and i have not been able to open the case. since i could not submit this without giving a manufacture date, i used 1942.
Are you in the UK or was your Uncle John a resident by any chance? The Daily Record and Sunday Mail is a Scottish Newspaper (and Web Site)
I agree with Kathy, seeing the entire watch will help.

i'll do that (new photos).
my uncle was born in scranton, PA and I only knew him when he lived and worked in philadelphia for a Ford dealership as manager of their parts department. he was apparently a rock-star when it came to running inventories, and he was given many awards by different organizations all over the U.S. (and perhaps elsewhere) for his work for them.
i don't recall his ever mentioning working in scotland, but it wouldn't surprise me. thanks for the information.
