Watch Description

Found this watch in a bag of jewelry that belonged to my fathers second wife. She died in 2004. I am guessing  from my research that this watch is art deco and yes those are real diamonds an rubies. I would like to sell this watch.

Picture of movement also included and the inside of the watch case.  Will take pic of outside case as well.

Case is 14 K gold

There are case markings but hard to photgraph I have doneabout 20 photos of the back and there is always a big glare. There is a Hallmarlk. The hallmark is under the word Bulova and the case serial number is at the bottom. I will try to photograph the back case again but using natural light.

Sounds like your having difficulties with photos.  Can you just tell us what the hallmark says?  Maybe it says 14K or 14k gold or similar. That may be easier for you, and give us the info I asked about.  Thanks

I really cannot see the Hallmark because it is so small

Unknown from me, I went through all of the ads from 1938 to 1946 and could not find a match...The diamonds look factory, but the Rubies were probably jeweler added.

Unknown from me for now too.  I checked and didn't see a match.

Given the new data on the case, it is unlikely we'll find a solid ID now, but given the case is 14K rose gold it is more likely the original owner spent a bit more to embellish the bezel.

Vintage Diva, This is not a drawback against the watch, Simply unlikely we could ID it with the info and research material currently at hand. Time will tell and patience is something we all must have. It's taken almost 8 years to ID my collection of Academy Award model Bulova's but Thanks to the crew here at mybulova, we've made leaps and bounds over the past year. Don't give up, keep checking the ads and the ads in the forums. Eventually something will come up and then we'll all know. One thing is sure, They did spend some serious money for the time and it is a very pretty watch.

You should get it serviced and wear it.

Gents I would disagree that the case has been embellished. I see nothing to indicate that Bulova didn't make this as is. They certainly used rubies and the 14K solid gold case would suggest that this was a higher priced model that would as such be adorned with diamonds and rubies. I believe we just haven't seen an advert for this one yet.

I whole heartedly agree with Shawn and that it sould be serviced and worn. Shame to waste such a beautiful vintage Bulova watch!

Unknown for me.

Thank you gentlemen for your input concerning this wrist watch. My belief is that this watch was a customed job. I believe that this watch was comissioned by the husabnd for his wife on some anniversary occasion. I doubt if you shall see this watch in some advertisement. I wish I had the paperwork for this watch but then there it is. The watch still works. I have a pretty good idea who the original owner was and she has been long dead. I do know she was wealthy.
