Its Official name was 'Type A-15 Elapsed Time Watch'

Pilot Navigation.

The Watch belongs to a member of MWR but I felt it worthy of the database.

Recognise the scratched roman numerals on the inside of the case back?

Aha... so perhaps a 1943 case with a 1944 movement?  That fits with everything in the thread too.
