Welcome to myBulova and thank you for sharing your pocket watch with us.  Can you add a photo of the caseback in the comments please?  Is it completely plain or does it have a date code as well?  I am not seeing the date code on the movement.  This pocket watch does not match the one in the 1965 line book so I am wondering if the dating might be off.

Thanks for the welcome. The case back is plain and is the reason why I didn't take of picture of it. The 1965 date was based on the movement model being 17AH. As for the M5, I believe I can see a M5 on the blurb under the letters S & R of the adjustment.

I think your pocket watch might be a Montgomery from 1947 per the serial number on the inside of the caseback.  Ad from Daily_News_Thu__Sep_4__1947

I saw this picture when I was doing the research, but, the top loop and watch as a whole looks like has more ornaments than mine.

As is this watch movement is working, but, the arms do not move with the movement. I can move the arms to set the time. The arms feel like they are grinding. It might be that the arms are hitting the face as the glass cover comes off easily. How can I get it repaired and is it costly? Looking forward to figure out what I have.

I'm inclined to date this one a 1947 Montgomery. Our movement dB shows the 17AH with a start date of 1948 so it being in a 1947 case makes sense.

I agree that this is a 1947 (bases on case serial number) Bulova Montgomery pocket watch.

We have some nice adverts that show a good loop match.

You mentioned the movement was stamped M5, can you confirm this with a picture?
