thanks Fifth. You have always been able to come thru for me. Is the date right or did I get that one wrong too?

Does any one in our group have any hair spring kits for the 7AK movement??  I need 2 or 3 of them .

what the hell is a hairspring kit? i am sure you can find someone to vibrate a few for you at 200+ a pop..or buy a parts movement...

The hair spring kit is a combination of tthe hair spring and balance wheel as I understand it. I don't know if you can buy a hair spring and attach it to the baklance wheel or not but I am told that when the balance staff needs replacing the wheel and hair spring also need to be replaced. If I buy a parts movement that has good balance wheel and hair spring it is probably easily fixed to run good.

I don't know that much about repair as I am self taught and only doing this for the last three months but I am trying to learn so if you know some thing about repairs I would really appreciate your passing that knowledge along to me.

what you are looking for a balance complete....which is the balance wheel, cock and hairspring and roller...you would have to find a parts movement, but there is a chance that the staff maybe bad or the hairspring bad or both...
