1949 Bulova Director/Broker?
Case is 14KT RGP Rose color with curved stainless back from 1949; case measures 29.4 x 20.7 excluding lugs/crown. 17 Jewel 8AH movement dated 48. Multi-color dial (rose, white, silver) with black markers and blue hands (I think). Expansion bracelet is also rose 1/20 12KT GF tops Flex-Let; shown with leather strap in last photo.
Not sure what model this matches later in this decade. Matches the earlier ads for the Director; also mention of the Broker in other discussions.
Beautiful watch Ken. Strap is nice but that rose band puts this one over the top. I hope you plan to wear this one.
Totally torn on the ID, I gave the Broker linked here just one tick, I think I'd rather call this a Director. We do not have a positive ID on this watch. I'd give it two as a Director.
This thing is gorgeous!
It's the three step. Commador, Broker, Director. I think we decided the Commador has engraved vertical bezel. The difference btwn Director and Broker slip my mind....but this thread has some useful discussion on this proposed difference.
When I do a watch database search for this period Director, I see no engraving, and an date range beginning 1946 through 1948. Nothing with the dial of subject watch.
Doing the same watch database search for this period Broker, date range is 1944 through 1948. There is at least one listed as Rose with subject dial. I gave that Rose w/ subject dial two ticks as Broker.
I betcha subject watch is either Broker or Director....but I'm leaning towards Broker w/ this dial. William (Scott) gives some crystal specs in the first page of comments in the currently-listed Broker, suggesting the Director is slightly different than Commador/Broker.
