Watch Description

Hi all I believe this is a 1949 Tuxedo I bought this one back in December and have waited until I got it back from Jeff Shimp before I put it on to the db.  It required servicing and dial refinished. I think you will agree this now one fine example of this model. the bezel and case are 10 k gold rolled plate, the case is marked Bulova A9 and has the serial number 2610807. the inside, Bulova Fifth Ave, New York. The movement is marked A9 and is 17Jewelled 8AC. the dial was refinised by International Dial.

In answer to merc's question regarding hands, I think the ones on the watch should be the 'Fils' type as they are slightly thinner than 'Index' hands.

Lovely job on the finish, and the dial looks good but sort those hands! :-)

Hi all thanks for your input.

Can anyone help me out with a set of hour , minute hands (fils or index) to fit this watch or if they know where l could get a pair from. I would be extremely grateful

Regards

George

Hi George
Try a private message to JP, in case he misses this comment.  He's got a little of everything.

George, if you are able to use a mm ruler and measure the narrowest diameter of dial (9 to 3 on your watch) from outer side of minute track to outer side of opposite minute track to determine the correct size; that will at least tell you the correct size and then help to find the hands that go with your movement. I may have a pair as well once we determine the mm size.

Just found this pic in my files of this Tuxedo before having the dial refinished.

The re-dial came out great.  I see the little notch in the "after" photo near 12 position on dial.  Not seeing it in the before picture above.  Nice work!!

They didn't match the original though. Look at the seconds dial.

Yeah Alan they put the numbers on the second dial for numb skulls like me  LOL :)

It also covers up the minutes track below the 6. It looks good, but I've never seen them get an exact match to the original yet.
