Watch Description

1953 Bulova Seabee (?) in a French case  Found this watch in a lot I purchased.  I like the larger case (33.5 mm) - as compared to similar, but smaller military issue watches.  The case was made by SWARTCHILD, France  The watch looks like Seabee, but is all SS and has a screw on case back.

I think we have previously established that these particular waterproof cases were indeed manufcatured by another company other than Bulova.

Panel can you confirm past discussions about Bulova using 3rd party case manufactures for this model?

I think this is a example of a Bulova movement placed in a non-Bulova case. I would lean toward non-conforming on this watch.

Are there other examples of Bulovas in SWARTCHILD cases?

Non-conforming

I stand corrected. We have a reference to Swartchild & Co, but it relates to a catalog publication listing various watch models and movements from the mid 1930s.

Based on the non-Bulova case and seeing that all other Seabees had a 'Bulova' stamped case, I now agree that the marrying of the watch with this case makes it non-conforming.
