I can't find an ad suggesting what the variant may be, but just wanted to point out "no radium" may not directly apply, as IMO the ad is showing a different watch.

Bulova '23' "A".

We can see that the "B" is white in other ads, and this ad definitely has a sunburst dial.

Ad courtesy of Watchophilia, from a mat service.

I'm good with 23 "A".

Reviewing the ads again I see only the one ad above showing this case with radium and charcoal starburst dial as the "A"; the "B" seems to be the same case with white non-radium dial with even numeral markers.

If subject watch has radium dial/hands then "A" would be correct, but I cannot tell if this watch has radium or not. If not, then this is likely not the original dial and we can't be sure what the original dial color/style was - could have been either variant, unless the case used for these two variants is different.

If anyone want's a PDF of all the Bulova Price Lists we have, subsetted for all occurrences of "Bulova 23", please PM me with your outside email address.  The price lists subset is in chronological order, 22 pages, and about 3 megs file size.  I left it in high enough resolution that someone could run OCR software on it and get good results.  There sure are lots of Bulova 23's between 1954 and 1964- the date range for our price lists.

Based on there not being radium I'll stick with Bulova 23, no variant.
