bobbee,

if You 'refuse to get into an arguement' then why post? by posting You are creating the arguement that You refuse to enter.

Bulova agreed in 1952 fo stop their advertising practices on the 'ACADEMY AWARD' series of Watches - The ad You post is Dated 1951 which only ads to the fact, there are no ads post 1952.

Geoffs 1953 example is absent of any 'ACADEMY AWARD' advertising packaging and is correct.

"According to documentation, nothing prevented Bulova from making/selling Academy Award watches, as the FTCstipulation only required them to advertise them in a certain way. Legally nothing could stop them making and selling them, but wether they did is another matter." (sic).

No proof either way.

This watch also has the "shadow dial" and "Faceted crystal" of the AA "ZZ" in the posted "blue" advert.

So maybe Bulova did not advertise them as AA's, it does not mean they did not sell them as such, and if they did not change any aspect of the previously advertised watch, e.g. dial, hands, crystal, I would think it is only common sense to assume that it is known by it's last known guise, and in this case it is the Academy Award "ZZ".

"Quod Erat Demonstrandum". (not really!)  ;^)
