According to 1954 ad #22 on site, this is a 1955 Lady Bulova automatic - "Bulova's newest creation" and has "self winding" on the face.
As far as I can tell, this is the first upload to the database of a watch sporting this movement; which apparently was only produced in 1954. Purchased out of a flea market debris box. When I picked it up, it immediately started running and quite to my surprise, keeps time.
Wow, such an incredibly small auto movement. Agree with it being a 'Lady Bulova'.

Agreed, I was amazed when I opened this one up and saw the tiny auto wind mechanism. Do the sales or movement records state when the first self winding movement for the small size ladies watch was introduced? I would be interested to know if this was the first. The referenced ad would seem to indicate this is the case; Thanks for adding the link.
I also found it interesting that while researching this one, I could only find loose 6BPA movements elsewhere on the internet for sale - No complete self winding watches. Every loose 6BPA movement was a L4 (1954). That would seem to indicate most of these movements went into solid gold cases that were scrapped out, and the movement was only produced for one year? Panel thoughts on this?
Lady Bulova is a good match. Looks to be the "A" variant.
