The closest I can find comprable to my watch is the 1955 Navigator. The only difference is my watch is an automatic and it says "Self-Winding" on the face above the six. The seals on the watch are still intact. I know this because I found it in a paint bucket full of nails and rusty water. And it keeps perfect time. So I can't pop the back. I'm sorry. But any other help would be great.
Thanks and have a great day!
Thank you for posting your watch and what a remarkable story about finding it submerged in a can of wet rusty nails. That is why we love Bulova. Can you confirm the date code on the back of your watch. It should be alpha numeric like M5. It might be very light so look at the back at difference angles. It should be either below Bulova or above Self Winding on the case back inner circle.

Unfortunately there is no date code on the back. On the back case it says "Bulova Watch Co" "Stainless Steel" "Anti-Magnetic" "Waterproof" and "Shock Resistant". There are no numbers and "Self-Winding" is on the dial above the 6 not the back. I hope this helps. I know it's a pain because we can't see inside lol.
I've been back to this one several times to no avail. Case markings on back are non-standard (Bulova Watch Co. vs. Bulova, no s/n or date); My gut feeling is that if opened, interior case back could very well be marked "Germany" or "US Zone Germany" and may have a date code from 1956 to 1960.
I believe that all Navigators and Phantoms in this time period were hand wind. We have Sea Clippers in the database matching above ad with smooth dial and slightly different lugs.
I am currently still at Unknown
Great story about watch origin, by the way.
