Case back has been polshed to the point where it's only readable with magnificationbut reads:BULOVA WATCH COMPANY INC,THE SERIAL NUMBER 99642,SHOCK RESISTANT,ANTI MAGNETIC and probably somethig about the water resistance(but totally unreadable) Inside caseback:SWISS L7 and it has machine turnings. Movement:17 jewel 11ACAC selfwinding is ultra clean. Dial:Reads BULOVA,SELFWINDING has white gold applied numbers and markers and has dots that were luminescent at one point.white gold hour and minute hands also show they were luminescent,blue sweep seconds hand with a spade at the end. AS bought with cracked crystal and missing stem. Well here's my latest $10.00 EBAY buy.I wasn't even certain the case was Bulova as there were no clear pictures so I took a chance.Even when I got it I could hardly make out anything on the case back.Looking through the database though I found the SEA CLIPPERS and with a loupe was able to confirm it was all BULOVA. Movement and crystal all come out the back of this two piece case.
This one looks like the Sea Clipper, but the ads show a couple of different case styles. Overall the cases look similar, but one has a more smooth and rounded finish (1959), while another has more defined edges and transition to the lugs (1959), both stainless with the same price and same dial. Watch does not match any of the other Clippers from this era.
