The price of the C is apx $79.  The price of the others which are noted as solid gold is over $100 (maybe $125 or $135-  I can see three digit dollar prices, even if the actual numbers can't be read).  The price range of this model is from $59 to $135, as per the big lettering in the ad. I don't think the "C" can be confused with solid gold based on this.

The band is a contributing factor to the 'variant' on these.

as presented -  'EW'

Maybe the band is a contributing factor, but this ad says the subject watch is the "A".

So now what? Got to be Generic.

Given that little addtion to the variant level, I'd have to reconsider my vote for EW and as was said earlier, when in doubt, generic HE for now.

Shawn- that little "addition" is incorrect.  The "C" variant is priced $79 and the "A" is priced at either $125 or $135- hard to read the actual numbers, but one can see a three figure price for the "A"  The A is solid gold, the C is not.  It gets confusing when it's hard to read the text  :)

Will, the "A" is $69.50, the same price as th "EW". The "A"is not solid gold.
Edit:-$59.50 not $69.50!

OK- maybe I need glasses :)  I"m re-reading all this again, and checking the Bulova price lists.  There are several HE's in the 1958 list which give lots of info.  The 1961 lists help a little.

Well, the wording maybe is wrong in the ads, as "natural gold" for two watches descriptions, one solid and one plate is unreasonable, as is a twenty dollar price difference for a band.
Does anyone know how much a leather band cost in 1958, as well as a gold plated flexi? Bet you could get a good quality flexi band for a lot less than $20!

...to quote Allan Sherman...... "Oliver Twiddledee.  Who's he.  We don't know, because he gave up."
I am not quite giving up on this one yet.  I got out my 3 power reading glasses and have my nose 7 inches from the screen....like that's helping.
