Hi this baby has never been opend. Do you believe it is wise to do so? I will if needed. Sorry to ask but when you say way off this means newer or much older? I just cont find anything to tell me the age of this watch. I inherted it form my father and i have it for 35 years now. My father told me once that he got it as a weadding present and he got married in 1960. I dont know if he got it or some one had it made for him. So the date I cant find out mor than that. The numbers on the casing doesn't tell much. Hope to hear your coments soon

Well, in this case, 'humdinger' means a very nice watch. The only way to get any further info would be to have a watchmaker service it. While the watch is open, he can record the movt symbol, or serial number, or calibre markings.
This is actually very critical, as an unserviced watch can and will destroy itself if run. Mechanical watches need periodic service every 4-6 years, and if this watch hasn't been serviced, it will require a complete CTR, an overhaul. I strongly recommend having this done by a qualified watchmaker. This is a beautiful family heirloom and I think you'll agree it deserves top treatment!

Bob The two similar Longchamp dials in the database are from the 1974 and 1978 ...and are sorta similar, but not quite....and they do have Longchamp verbage above the 6 position
