This is the second of my purchases, this watch is the same as one I already own and this very rare to find model Regatta in this king of condition (all original except the spiedel strap) was proudly worn by Roger Moore when he played the Saint in the 1960s tv show. It is a beautiful watch with a pie pan dial. The one I have already keeps great time and rivals my Omega Seamaster Professional and my Omega Constellation Chronometers for accuracy on and off the wrist. Owner states "M3" on case. I removed this entry from Case Serial No: field in root record above. Will July 2015
Hi Admin, yes the band or Strap is by Spiedel and not original to this watch which is a Regatta G variant. I have already got another watch, the same model as this one with its original 1960s strap in top condition and it is a fantastic looking and accurrate. (Picture Below) Also worn by the Saint Roger Moore in the 1960s for most episodes often shown close up onscreen, so when I spotted this I just had to have it.
When the Regatta 23 on the Spiedel band arrives I will take it to my jeweller for a good overhaul and clean and then I may put it up for sale at a small profit . These Bulova Regatta 23 watches are top draw and fantastic worn casually or with dress clothes, I like them as much as if not more than my Omegas..
My old eyes can't see the "G" variant vs the Regatta 23 generic in the supporting ad. I gotta check the ads at higher resolution. I'll also check the Bulova Price Lists, because subject watch falls within the price list time period. If their ain't a difference btwn generic and "G" based on ads, band, and price lists, I'm good with a tentative 1963 Regatta "G".
I gotta see something suggesting there's a difference based on band between "G" and another variant. There could be...... but a tentative "G" may better describe this watch than a generic Regatta 23
Hi William I do not know enough to know the difference between Standard and G variants and I know what you mean about the old eyes, lol. I blew the picture up in Paint and in the AD picture in the tiny writing under the watch strap bottom it says "Double Duty Watch News Regatta 23 "G" slim Custom casted case and rich expansion band gleam with enduring elegance.
Dependable self wind timekeeping, Waterproof and Bulova 23 precision movement 79.95 USD.
So it is the Regatta "G" variant in the AD, Kev
The two watches below the Main Watch in the AD are Regatta 23s "A" and "C" priced at 49.95 and 59.95 respectively.

Thanks for providing the tiny print from the ad. I looked at the higher resolution ad, and your watch sure looks like the Regatta 23 "G" w/ that distinct outter copper "pie pan" style dial. One part of the ad that got me laughing was "slim" custom case. Your watch has something like a "bubble back" which I don't think of as thin. I guess thin was relative.... Bulova marketing....
The price difference btwn A, C, and G should be indicated in the Bulova price lists, and I bet we find the "G" variant is $79.95. There were sooooo many of these Regatta (and other 23's) price differences may not be the end all, but it sure helps narrow things down.
