Unknown until ad shows up. There are too many different 23j models in the '60's, although it does resemble the Commander 30j so it could wind up being a Regatta 23.

It would seem odd that Bulova would produce the '23' and the 'Regatta 23' consecutively as essentially they are both the same Watch: 23 Jewels, Automatic and Waterproof.

General question:

Do We see the Bulova '23' advertised post 1963 or does the 'REGATTA 23' replace the '23', as the 'COMMANDER' replaces the Bulova '30' at around the same time?

I haven't seen an ad, but '23's' show up later, and whether they have additional identifying names, I don't know. I just saw one M6. It would be good to nail this one down.  Until we get an ad, I'll have to say Unknown.

The Hand style showing on Jerins' Watch is consistant with the 'REGATTA' and there is an ad showing a similar Dial. - ad Dated 1963

....is there anything post this Date advertising a Bulova '23' ?

I don't think so Fifth...and I agree it would be nice to at least put a pin in it if we can't nail it down.

Gents,

If there's nothing in the database post 1963 advertising a Bulova '23' then the subject is a 'REGATTA 23'.

No.  That makes no sense at all.  Because we haven't see the correct ad and we've seen no other ads it should automatically be a Regatta 23?  Wrong... horrible reasoning.

Epic Fail.

Unknown.

Regatta case appears to be much thinner than subject watch. I think the angle on the lugs in previous mentioned part of the string is a photo trick and not really angled more. It is begining to look more like a regular 23 Bulova as dipicted in the ad. IMO

It's circumstances like these that a little common sense comes into play.

No, the Case does not match the ad, nor does the Dial. But, all of the Watches characteristics do.

23 Jewels, Automatic, Waterproof, which, in 1964 is describing the 'REGATTA 23'.

I'll stick to My Guns on this one.

Mark, would your vote be tentative or confirmed for the "Regatta 23"? If the case were the same as the '63 ad I would probably go with "tentative".
