Additional Information:

Believe this to be a 1968 Oceanographer Model "H" variant. Never seen another with the blue face. Pristine condition, no rust, and I can probably set my quartz watches by it. Solid.

Back of case says "Waterproof, Stainless Steel Case, Anti Magnetic, Shock Resistant, M8". Movement also has M8 date stamp.

I have the original stainless steel mesh band as well, also in great shape, but it makes the watch a bit heavy to wear, and I wear this one daily.

Oceanographer 'H' it is. I think the blue dial makes the watch.

Agree, "H".

Non-original colour, but it does look very good with this model.

Yea the ad says "gray dial".  I'm checking on the "2893" stamped in ink on inside case back.  If we have a grey dial example in same case, it could be the blue dial is a different variant letter.  Or redial in blue?  I'll also check for an ad showing same case w/ text stating blue dial (or a color ad).
I'm good with tentative Oceanographer "H" in the meantime.

Hello again Mike, looks like you're on a roll. I love this era of Bulova watches. I have a basic stainless model as well that's my daily driver.

At the risk of hairsplitting I will agree with Oceanographer based on the dial. I don't think I can agree with the "H" designation based on the dial though. The advert does not have 'Oceanographer' beneath Bulova and it is marked 'Super Waterproof' where the subject is different.

This is definitely a redial, the company made a big mistake by putting "automatic" and "self winding" on the dial, it's a redundancy when both mean the same.

Well spotted Geoff.

I agree also, this appears to be a redial; I would consider this an Oceanographer, no variant

Yea I'm changing to Oceanographer without variant.

Makes sense that this is a redial - the radium in the dials is too bright/fresh. Still, they did a bang-up job, and it's a nice daily driver.
