Watch Description

1970 McLeans Magazine advert running the Golden Clipper series and with the Stainless Steel 11616 model shown on the right.  I note old advert texts are sometimes difficult to read and easily be misread, but my clear copy image of the advert shows it’s definitely 11616.

I have other detailed photographs, which I take myself as I wear the watch often.  I compared this to a recent purchase (Lanco) from the same era, 25j and is great condition, but the Bulova is noticeably superior in build quality.  Both feature the vertical read Day/Date aperture, though the Lanco has an excellent Date/Date Quick/Set feature, where the Bulova does not.

Very impressed with this Golden Clipper model and it is surprisingly accurate and now a favorite in my collection.

Hi bosartis15, welcome to myBulova. I like YOUR Bulova a lot. This is one of my favorite models. I like the distinction of the name and day/date being vertical as opposed to horizontal.  Thanks for sharing it!

PS, many Bulova of this era do have the quick set date feature, of which I am a huge fan. Also, if you look long and hard you'll find the Bulova Golden Clipper sword out there, now THAT's the Golden Clipper I'm wanting.........

regarding the sword - one was for sale in Canada just last week.  Don't know if it's sold now or not.  I thought about it but the postage to UK was exhorbitive.

Nice Golden Clipper.  I see it has Geoff Baker's initials on the inside case back (inside the tombstone-shapped symbol).  We have been discussing various case makers which Bulova used, and was wondering what (else) that GB may stand for.
Do you have a picture of the outside case back?  Nice new-looking watch!!!

Yes I do have a picture - if I can figure out how to post it.  Ah I see it . . .
