Geoff,

'JET STAR' of some sort or another - ad Dated 1973.

Not a Jet Star though Mark - case is all together different, in fact I owned the watch picured in the above ad. Just picked up the twin of the subject watch (did I mention that it is also NOS), which is how I come about the model #.

Geoff,

Model numbers are clearly listed in the ad shown above and note they are not sequential. The ad also states 'many others available.' The ad also shows that the Watches are part of Bulovas 'JET STAR' collection, which is why I disagree with listing Watches by Model number.

If the watch I've posted drew any resemblance to the watch pictured in the add you posted that would make sense, but alas they are not the same watch, not even close, so the model number of the watch in the ad is of no consequence and the ad is irrelevant. What I have l clearly stated is that I have, in my possession the duplicate of the subject watch, New Old Stock WITH THE HANG TAG. I will add that watch to the db soon enough but until I do you will have to believe me that I know the model number of this watch and I don't care if was part of the Jet Star series or not (and you have provided no indication that it is) . Model number trumps the series name.

By the way, the ad you've posted is not in the data base, could you please send admin a copy?

So in EITHER of the ads you confusing everyone with do you or do you not see the subject watch?

The two ads posted above are accutron of the same period and similar style.  They seem helpful in light of no other ads.    They are, perhaps arguabley, almost necessary for the current discussion.

I'm curious: 1. how many accutron models did Bulova produce in 1973?

2. How many in the "jet star" series?

also a good discussion- where do you draw the line on naming a model?  The model number, if known, seems like a good name if there isn't an ad or more info ID'ing as part of the Jet Star series.

But if more ads or info surfaces, what do you name it if it turns out to be a 1973 Jet Star 11649-Y

Seems like the that would be the best name if it's determined to be part of that series.

Accutron? where did that come from?

This watch is not an Accutron,

It has not been identified as a Jet Star, there are six that we know of per the two ads

These ads have no bearing or relevance in the identification of this watch

It has been identified, undeniably as a model 11649-Y, it is in no way connected to any known Jet Star

Bulova didn't give it a name and neither will anyone associated with this site, as it HAS NO NAME

I have a photo of a 1973 Ford Pinto, it's the same period and style but that doesn't make this watch a 1973 Ford Pinto

I will rename this watch consistent with any ad you care to produce, until then I have named it.

yea I meant automatic not accutron.  sometimers on my part.   Still seems the ads look more like a watch than a pinto :)

I too was trying to figure out how accutron got in your comment until i reread my post.  It's not quite alzheimers yet...just sometimers....

The Case of this Watch certainly looks like #11634 (on Left) in the 2nd 'JET STAR' ad above exept in Yellow hence the -Y designation.

The Watch fits the descriptive text on all other points:

17 Jewels,

Automatic.

Day / Date.

It's a 'JET STAR' - model #11649 in Yellow.

IMO

The 1973 Ford Pinto - in Yellow.

Perhaps a call to Bulova is in order, they will have the Catalog records of these 1970's pieces - Named.
