Additional Information

This is an incredible military watch.  It is a 1944 Military Issue Ordnance Department with a 10AK movement.  It has a circle date code for 1944 and has a dust shield.  THe screw back is marked ORD. DEPT. U.S.A. OF-92577 BULOVA WATCH CO.  The dial is a dark brown with applied luminous hour markers and a printed white minute track and sub second register.   The crystal is extra thick and tall.  Currently it is not working and needs a new balance pivot.  The best part of the watch is the wonderful trench art engraved cuff bracelet.  It appears to be stainless steel and on one side has engraved mountains and palm trees and "Marianas Islands".  The other side has two volcanos and palm trees with "Tinian" and the date "45".   I am really excited about getting this restored and running again.

Movement has a "O" indicating a 1944 movement.

Watch runs great, keeping very good time. The watch dial is in excellent condition, as well as the "crystal" and second hand. Suspecting these have been replaced but only a suspecion. I have yet to see another Bulova Type A-11 with a 1942 case listing.

Additional Information

Here is a Bulova Ordnance Department watch dating 1944. The OF on the serial number dictates that it is a 15 to 17 jewel wrist watch (waterproof case) this case back matches the description of the case and movement. Often you see the wrong caseback serial code to movement but this one is fine. There is slight discolouration neat 1 & 2 on the dial bur everything else is crisp. The hands have been relumed . The case is in mint condition with gasket and anti magnetic cover. I can't say if case has been replated but is mint. I change the nato style strap for a mint 1940s pig skin quick release band made by Streamline.

Additional Information

I know this is one of the A11 produced by Bulova the question which I doubt we'll find out is the watch is issued to Army Air Force 1942 but movement is 1945 so is it a 45 watch with a replacement backplate or a 42 watch with replacement movement? It also has the dreaded second hand stutter but I have read this is common because it is a modified 10Ak movement so because it is indirect drive you get this stutter because of play in extra gear train. Watch keeps great time.

Additional Information

Recently received as a gift from a fellow collector.  He knows that Bulova is my special interest.

I can not seem to find a photo of a dial such as this, except on the Hamilton version.

Note: 24 Hour indice

Note: Recessed Sub dial

It Looks like a cross between the "Night Warden" and a Military ORD...

Have you folks seen another like this?  I'd appreciate any input...

Additional Information

I believe this to be a Bulova ORD Dept watch.  Although the case back has been ground smooth, when you look at the inside of the case back at the right angle to the light, you can see the "ORD DEPT" and "USA" as a very faint reverse stamping.
