Watch Description

This watch belonged to my grandmother and runs beautifly. The face appears to be dirty, and there are 8 total diamonds on the case. (four down each side) I am not completly sure of the year this watch was made. The only symbol I could find on the movement is unclear to me. It appears to be "<" this symbol appears no where on a chart for a year. So i can only assume that this is not actualy the symbol for dating the watch.

On the back is the serial number 646090 along with 14k and BULOVA directly under neath it.

Delete the other two posts about this watch if you don't mind.  Thanks.

You will need to remove the caseback to find the date code. Use a loupe or magnifying glass to search for symbols on the movement. Click on this link for the codes and pictures of where to look.

Old Ticker, I have removed the case back and found no symbol that matched the date codes on the page you mentioned. I have looked multiple times with and without a magnifine glass. The only symbol on the movement is  something that resembles a greater than or less than symbol, sort of the the head of the arrow for the year 1937 but it is clearly not an arrow. Perhaps i need a stronger magnifying glass.

'23' on the Dial?

Case design is similar to the early 1960's 'FIRST LADY'

ads in the database.

the first lady watches from the very early 60's are very similar in shape. But i am still unsure. There is no letter and number code on the back of the watch. Were watches made after 1950 that did not have this identifying code? I have a second Bulova watch wich is clearly from 1975 and has the code clearly on the back of the case.

Have a look around the balance

Thanks so much for your suguestion. I took a much closer look around the balance and still found nothing. However up at the other end of the movement there are two symbols that are too small to make out. One of them deffinetly looks to be either a circle or a 6.  Directly next to it is the symbol i drew in red.

Interesting inside case back signature...or is that a personal engraving of BW?
