Watch Description

I believe we have a Tentative "Westover" based on a jewellers hang tag on another members watch some time ago. Jay posted a pick with the hang tag on page 2 of this thread. ttp://www.mybulova.com/watches/1951-westover-1113?page=1  Movement is not original to the watch.

...aha...the "Sea Shell case".  Just a nicname, but very fitting.  Lots of crystal specs chatter in that link you posted.  Very useful.  ...and not to be a wet blanket, but I'd guess watches which are for sale in  a shop probably sell better if they are in a period-correct display box and have a hang tag.  It's kinda a crap shoot.  Also I believe the term NOS, when applied at POS, refers to a watch that has not left the shop- the POS.  It should be, by definition, near mint, as it hasn't been circulated (short of maybe allowing potential customers try it on and the likes).  When someone purchases a NOS from a shop- it is new old stock.  When someone purchases a watch w/ display box and hang tag from any other source, IMO it becomes "like NOS" or "originally purchased as NOS (if the original POS was from a jeweler/dealer)".

I remember I purchased a "NOS" senator in a senator box, with a senator hang tag and papers- AND a reciept from the jewelry store showing the case serial number and stating "Senator"- AND the receipt was dated a few years after model release based on ads on site...but the watch was an ambassador.  This is why these NOS and hang tags are dependent on original POS for me to consider more than tentative.

Sure looks like the Westover in the ad.

I think I have a copy of the ad here, if so, I will post it.

I give up.  No Westover ad I can find.  Maybe it was the scalloped Senator ad I remembered....
There's only one Westover listed in the 1954/55 model lists...and that number matches the hangtag in Wayne's linked example.

John  Not specifically, but I think admin has already added them to the general ad database, so I think I checked them indirectly.

Westover, I think hang tags are reliable. I don't think they were applied point of sale.
