Watch Description

Guessing this could be a Cambridge, but far from sure.

The crown is not stamped. Inside the backplate, it says "Bulova, 10K rolled gold plate bezel, sterling base, stainless back, New York".  Someone has also scratched some numbers/letters, which might read "11848-69-62, CV16V, Sep 10-49", but also might not.

This looks to be a "Cadet B" -  look under the 1943 ads... it's like the 5th ad.

Also... just for your own knowledge base... the signed crown didn't show up on Bullys until like 1950 thereabouts.  Maybe the other guys have pinned that down exactly to the year but it's somewhere around there.

Thanks Plainsman. I've had some nice watches for some years but I am brand new to identification and the site. I've been looking through the site, adverts, models, etc and reading comments, but how does one tell the difference between models? The Cambridge, Cadet B, Stamford, Lieutenant, Aviator and no doubt many more all look the same to me, however much I scrutinise them.

Haha... now there's a great question Barry.  Quite a bit of it comes down to the little nuaunces that most of us don't pay attention too until we've been doing it awhile and get down to the nittty gritty.

What year? (Bulova is notorious for changing a name via year)

What color?

What band?

What dial?

And then take all those things and again what year?

and get this one...

What part of the country or world was the watch marketed!?  Haha... that one is hard.

All these things make it so difficult to start doing this from scratch... but there's a handful of us on here (give or take a few comers and goers) did pretty much put this database together from scratch... and we even have some arguments to what's what at times!

AHHHHH BULOVA.... love em... but never leave em!

The '43 ad that Jerin mentions refers to "Coral" gold whereas the Cadet A in the same ad mentions yellow gold. Anyone know what Coral is? This is the first time I've heard of it. Otherwise it looks to be a match. I would change the date to'44 though based on the case serial #.

Is it another term for rose gold.

Yeah, after I posted I was thinking that coral may be a different shade of red/pink gold.

Barry, is your case yellow or is it more pink gold? Comparing it to another yellow watch may make any difference stand out.

Hi  DarHin. I've compared against rose gold and yellow gold and it is definitely yellow gold.

How about the Cadet "D", the version "B" is rose/coral gold.

But wait there's more....how about the Cambridge

Upon a closer look at the lugs and how they meet the bezel I'm more inclined to go with the
Cadet "D"
. The Cadet lugs touch where-as there is a distict gap on the Cambridge.

Thanks. When I align the watch with the adverts, and look from the same angle, the difference from the Cambridge lugs is clear. It is a much closer match to the Cadet lugs.
