Certainly a Director case, however the variant dial may have made it another model. Let the search begin :-)

That's a great looking dial and original band.

"Well now we have a good argument! First off I restore to exact specs! Look at the AD. That is a Butler or what you call a Varient Dial! Only my dial has roman numerals and was upgraded to 14k Red Gold. So therefore 59.95 instead of 49.95 in the ad. This is THE DIRECTOR. From 1943.

"I also must point out that the Dial you think in question is a curved Dial which by no mistake fits this Case to exact specs. Bulova advertised The Director Model as Curved Case and Curved Dial. Thanks very much for the research.. JEV

No offense but your case is very nice, but I think about a decade older than your watch. The case looks to be from about '35-37

Whatever your smoking, I want some. This is The Director Case from 1943, RED GOLD 14K Rolled Gold Filled Plate Bulova Case. This case is not a decade older than what my specs say. JEV

Yeah.... I'm gonna sort of disagree with you there.   I can show you several Bulova ads for mid-30's with your case advertised.... and quite a few 1940's watch ads showing the dark maroon snap case issued for watches of those early 40's years shown below.

Whoops.. I thought you mean't the Watch Case. Yes, the box as discussed is older and has been labeled so within my description. But with the Red Gold and the Box being Red Velvet, I could not resist! Sorry for the comment earlier and thank you for the info. JEV1A

1941 ads.

1943 Mexican ad.

Looks like a Director rose gold case to me.

Is it solid gold, or  filled? Case SN suggests it was made in 1941, with a 1943 mech.

Do you have an ad showing this dial variant, proving the $49.95 to $59.95 price hike JEV?

No I can't find an ad for this exact Model. I just assumed $10.00 higher because of the as Bulova stated 14K "Red Gold" Filled Plated. The movement is newer than the case which happens, I have seen that before. Thanks so much for the research, can you now change from "Unknown" to The Director? Nive huh.. the Dial is completely original. Some minor patina, strong runner keeping accurate Time. I had to change the crown to another Rose Gold one. I do have the original but its quite worn. Bracelet has some gold loss but is perfect like new as far as the stretch of it. I have a 46' Director that I will post next also a Rose Gold 14k but with a Mesh Bracelet and rose / copper dial. Best, JEV

Two ticks for Director with dial variant. Very nice watch, I have one myself given to me by my dear old friend Bobbee. It was a restoration project that turned out quite nice. Some day soon I will post all of my watches including the Rubiyat and Lady Maxim and the Bulova 23 Calendar  and of course, the Sea King with Sea King on the dial.
