Watch Description

I don't know much about this watch other than it was owned by my great-grandmother.  My mom gave it to me a few years ago and I've always been interested in it.  I think it is 1920's by the look of it.  It's in surprisingly good shape and still works!  The hands and gem on the knob are blue.  It has a leather strap, not sure if it's original.  The case says it is made of 19k rolled gold plate.  Family heirloom and not considering selling, but we would love to know more about it!

Certainly 1920's, could the first digit of the Case seriel number be a 6 or an 8?

Triangle Date stamp (1926) to the right of the stem (?)

Both the '6714' and 'PATER' models are advertised as either solid 14k Gold or Gold filled.

I believe the Gold plate version will be the 'PATRICIA'

I'm still thinking the fill version will also be the Patter (not Patricia) at some point in time (1925), but would have also been ID'ed by existing ads as the 6514 for the year of subject watch.  ...and will eventually be ID'ed as 6513 for 14/18/19k fill versions when we find that ad.

June 6th, 1925 ad snippet for 6514 below:

The first number is actually a four!  It's hard to see unless you tilt it into the light.  So it would be 4087037.  There is a strong circle mark though.  My camera isn't the best at detail shots unfortunately!

A Case seriel number beginning with a 4 would indicate 1924 which coincides much better with a Movement dated 1925.

The design matches are the model (s) '6514' and the 'PATER', but as mentioned prior both are advertised as having either a solid Gold or Gold filled Case.

The 'PATRICIA' first appears (in database advertisements) in 1928.  http://www.mybulova.com/sites/default/files/vintage_ads/1928-AD2-%28Feb-11%29.jpg

There is a circle mark stamped on the movement.  That would date it to 1925?

I would say a 1924/25 Bulova Pater as well. I think I can see a circle date code near the crown, but it could be something else.

Thank you so much for the information!  Mom will be pleased to know.  I think my grandmother was born in 1925 so that's interesting!  Do you think the strap is original to the watch?  It's in very good condition, if it is original it can't have been worn much.

What a wonderful watch. I think the family heirloom watches are so exciting. To think that you have the watch your great grandmother wore so many years ago is priceless.

I doubt the strap is original but it could still be old. If you look through the ads we have for this era ( link at the top of the page), you see that most of these beauties had ribbon type straps. I would say that this style is later, perhaps the 50's. Often the cord itself is replaced due to wear but the fittings are old.

Agree with Pater ID.
