I am looking for a 10A movement or a balance complete with hairspring and prefferably still attached to the balance cock although the balance cock is not absolutly necessary but the balance with hairspring must be good with a good staff.
I will trade for it or pay cash through paypal or by check.
I doubt it...but I don't know. The Reverend Rob might know. There's no interchanganility inofrmation for 10A and 10P as far as I know. I think they might take the same balance...but again I don't know for certain. I do know the 10AX fits a 10AN and 10AE but whether it fits a 10A? I don't know.
The image below is from a vintage parts Cabinet, the 9 and 10 linge drawer.
Not that it tells Me a thing, I just enjoy posting pictures.
: )
It shows 2 sets of parts for the 'Model A' which tells Me the Bulova A Movement was manufactured in both 9 and 10 linges.
Jules Borel has the most extensive searchable online cross reference database for Movements I have ever seen, it's quite something.
Borel shows the 10 A but only cross references the mainspring and 2 'other' parts - nothing on the balance.
Sorry, not having a good day apparently. 10AX is what you want, the 10AK is different. Sometimes running my finger across the chart it tends to wander.
And with another look, I see I was guessing at the 10AX being the same balance, I think the likelihood is good, but I can't confirm it. The FHF Robert and several other 10''' movts are all closely related, and I have swapped parts between them before. There is even some design duplication with certain AS movts of the same time, when they were all becoming part of ESA, what was to become ETA. 10P is a different animal altogether, coming from LePhare.
MY bestfit lists 10A as FF Robert along with 10 AA, 10 AI, and 10AAI
10AN, 10AX, and 10AE are FF 324
10AP and 10P as mentioned before are Le Phare
Although 10A and 10AX are both from FONT, they are different Calibres. Also there are seperated by about 10 yrs give or take as far as when they were manufactured.
aside and possibly a good topic to open up for discussion to those interested - is the 9 and 10 A the first 'fully jeweled' Gents wristwatch Movement produced by Bulova Watch Co?
Do We see any hallmarks on these early Movements other than Bulova Watch Co, such as Bulova W. Co?
In reply to aside and possibly a good by FifthAvenueRes…
Well the 1921 date and 17 jewel count on this BBI is pretty early and Bulova W. Co. Not seeing 9 and/or 10A much earlier.
EDIT: Now I see your asking "By Bulova Watch Co." so disregard above.
