Hi Folks,
Can anyone tell me what is the name of a Skyking with the case colors reversed?
This watch has a Gold body with White Bezel trim, it looks exactly or very close to a Skyking.
Movement is a 10AN with Omega, Serial# 639160, dial has six-sided inner track.
Case has Jan. 11 1927 Pat Date.
Yes I know I need to load Photos but last couple of times it didn't work, any help is appreciated.
Thanks, Jim

I'm not sure we have a deffinitive answer other than to say that our current thinking is that it's still a Sky King variant, but knowing Bulova I would not be supprised in the least if it was identified as yet another model, once an advert presents itself.

12 years 11 monthsThe ad below is the only genuine Bulova ad I see from the group above, the rest newspaper clippings published by who knows who.
The Case horizontals in the Bulova ad have obvious chevrons which the actual Watches shown do not.
Thanks for the input atom Ant.
We see the same advertising dilemma put forth with the 1931 'LONE EAGLE'
One Case appears to have the known ball and Diamond engraving the other has one bezel vertical with the squiggly engraving pattern and the other with the XX type.
I don't think any of the Watches shown are 'SKY KING'

10 years 3 monthsThere are lone eagle two ads long after 1930 but the lone eagle three came in in 1931. Those x case sky kings start in 1931 and after, if I read them right and the first type are all before 1931.
if i saw a chevron case dated after 1930 i would probably change my mind though.

All Bulova ads Dated 1930 - 1934 show a 'SKY KING' with a chevron engraved Case.
The newspaper ads depicting a non chevronned Case are Dated 1934 and beyond (I find it hard to beleive this Case type was available post 1934 as Case designs were sleeker in nature by this time).
All database examples of a XX patterened non chevron Case are Dated prior to 1931.
It just doesn't add up.

all the chevron cases with the rosebud engraving round the bezel date to 1930 i am not putting them all here but there are 7 of them go look, with two from 1931 that look like XX but not positive.
the newspaper daverts all date to 1932 if you right click on them except this one
http://www.mybulova.com/sites/default/files/vintage_ads/bulova-ad-1931-1.jpg
this one has the date of june 1932 in the post with it

seemsyou made a mistake with the paper ad dates and the XX watch dates.
it looks like the ads here from meyers in 1932 and 1934 are selling old stock just like other ads here showing older models.

1933 ad showing the lone eagle mark two three years after the mark three came out.

1932 ad showing the same mark two lone eagle two years after the mark three

that explains the 1932 and 1933 sky king ads.
if you look at the info in the right way it sure ads up OK, all the chevron cases with rosebud bezel engraving are from 1930 and all the non chevron case with xx engraved are after 1930
if you think im wrong or out of line tell me i can shut up.

14 yearsWhat the adverts tell us and what is reality are often two different things. We should all know that by now. Until otherwise proven with an advert showing otherwise these all are Sky Kings.
Ealiest advert I have seen is the 17th October 1930, has anyone seen an earlier reference?
The dial change over from lumed numbers to applied raise gold numbers looked to have happened sometime in 1931.

12 years 10 monthsI also have one of these non-chevron Sky Kings on hand...Not in the database yet, but will enter it.
Just because it happens to be a newspaper ad verses a Mag ad, I won't discount it...thats a piss poor excuse.
There are too many of these "non Chevron" Sky Kings out there not to be considered as 2 tick "Sky King" watches.
