Bulova Ads

Submitted by jfoley on December 21, 2011 - 8:16am

Help!!! I'm a relatively new member at myBulova. I have around 50 vintage Bulovas, about 3 of which I've identified. I have only been on the computer for about a year and am very inept at it. My computer (given to me) is about 10 years old runs a Windows XP program. My problem is the ads on Bulova Ads are too small to help identify anything even after blowing them up. Am I doing something wrong? Is it my antique computer or does everyone have this problem? JFoley

jfoley - assuming you've clicked the icon in the ALMOST bottom right - the one above the X is four outward facing arrows - that blows the ad up to largest size. You will note as you scroll through (there are forward and back arrows near the top on either side) that some are quite large and clear - others are not. We all squint and sqirm trying to decipher the smallish and not very clear ones.......it's the file size (geek speak) that determines the clarity / resoloution of what is displayed. Wish they were all crystal clear but then, if they were - 11 - teen of us would have nothing to debate all along!

Welcome - can't wait to see your collection!. If you'd like you can ship then all to me and I'll ID them and send back the ones you should keep!

geoff thanks so much for your help. truthfully i dont remember exactly what i did. my old pc is so slow i sometimes click on something than go freshen my coffee. it takes it an hour and a half to watch sixty minutes. again im computer dumb, all these years ive just had other things to do and wouldnt be doing this now if someone hadnt told me that their were actual watch sites on line. i think they told me this so they wouldnt have to listen to my watch stories. anyway watches are my passion ( especially bulovas) and im just tring to catch up . with help from fine gentlemen as yourself it might not be as hard as i thought. thanks again.

decided to try to find five a night. ten or twelve nights ill be done. found a 47 senator (was engraved xmas 47 on back) that helped, a 55 senator (clamshell case), a 61 president (the tank shaped one with the folded elbow type lugs), and a 65 30 jewel commando. the 5th was undated therefore harder to find.ive decided to open all the older undated ones at the same time to date then go to the data base to  idenfy. dont look like ill be sending you any to help me with after all geoff but thanks for the offer ha ha. happy holidays to all.

That is a pretty good sucess rate.  I seem to come across unknowns quite often - but I collect mostly in the early to mid-1930s where the ads are pretty thin.

Sounds like a nice collection.

Another terminal case of Bulova - itis Dr Ollman.

So sad, there being no known cure. Think of the suffering his loved ones will endure.......

All down hill from here jfoley, welcome again. Lots of really sick people in this room.

dear simpletreasures, as with all infectious diseases immunity plays a role requiring meds more often. appears to me youre terminal. maybe a 14 k accutron like i saw today at our local flea would help, it was out of my range.
