Bulova movements made in USA

Submitted by MikeSoCal on August 21, 2010 - 12:34am

I have been told that the high end Bulova movements 21jewels or more were made in the USA that is why they don't have "Swiss" on the dial or the movement. Does anyone know this for sure and if so is this true for all the 21 jewel or starting after a certain date.

Mike, from the list of movement serial numbers I've compiled over the years it looks like Bulova started to make movements in the US around 1935.  This is when I see the first appearance of U.S.A stamped movements with no serial numbers.

It would be very handy to have a movement caliber, jewel count and date introduced and discontinued. What identified the date; movement serial number or date simbol. I know you have worked on your database for some time & I think that info could be used very positively. If you need help let me know.

Thanks
