Doug Corrigan sprinbars?

On the Doug Corrigan model(1939)what do you use to secure the band to the case when you don't have the original set-up?Will the Gucci type pins fit in some way and what size do you use?

Most just end up using a narrow band that fits between the lugs with a regular set of spring bars.

The original lug extenders allowed the use of a wider band with the watch.

What I really wanted to know(I guess I prased the question wrong) is how do you get the two piece case to hold together?

The case should snap together? Or maybe it is held by the spring bars once the band is attached, I'll have to dig up my Corrigan and check.

The upper piece of the case is held in place with the sring bars passing through the case lugs and into the upper dress piece.

A lot of the cases were epoxied or soldered into place so that upper piece would not come off.

Denis, I think I had the same problem you're having. The Corrigan is a three piece case, the top side is two separate parts but the spring bars don't hold the upper most part to the bottom. Several years ago I went for a long walk wearing my Doug and half way through I noticed the top of the watch was gone. I retraced my path but did not find it until I returned home, it was laying on the porch!

My watch maker solved the problem by gluing it down but I don't remember what type of glue he used. Now I'm extremely careful when I wear it.

Thanks  Geoff, that's exactly the problem I'm having.I don't really know if I would want to glue the top two parts of the case .I was thinking I could use the pasha type bars and tubes with the outside screws.I know you can cut down the tube and bars themselve but don't know if it woud work.I guess I'll have to order a set and find out.

The bars with screws on the end are like the modern Gucci type, and you can get generic versions of these.

Thanks everyone,I think I'll order a set of the pasha(Gucci)bars and give them a try.
