Exclusive models?

Submitted by geezer_D on March 6, 2011 - 11:40am

After perusing some of the unknown models with the Bulova advertisements and not matching up to any specific models in the ads, it makes me wonder if Bulova did not make special commissioned designs.  Did the large chain stores perhaps have Bulova make unique cases just for sale through that particular outlet?  Some of the chains did have other manufacturers design specifically for them.  Might be the missing link between advertised official Bulova models sold from Bulova franchised jewelers and the variations we are seeing to identifiable models.

au contraire.

I believe the more common models seen today were offered through the Chains such as Sears, Penney etc the more obscure exclusively through Dealer/Jewelers.

Interesting theory but probably didn't happen.  They supplied watches to large chains such as Sears but these were the exact same watches that were sold everywhere.  Bulova was very protective of their brand, even going as far as to have individual stores sign contracts regarding their policies which included pricing as Bulovas were fair traded.   Keep up the outside the box thinking.  I think some of us here are so focused on the brand that we tend to not get very creative with our thinking.

I agree with Jay..keep thinking outside the box. I certainly don't mind people putting a great theory forward just as long as it's based on some sort of evidence. The fun bit then begins as we as a community take on the challenge of proving or dis-proving the theory.

Keep'em coming boys and girls!

Too bad Lowe's deep sixed the archived references and materials.  Would have been a good day to go dumpster diving
