What is the crystal & hand size?

Most of these 20's and early 30's watches require custom ground glass or an acrylic crystal for another brand that can be custom fitted.

Sorry to say, it will probably look like what you discribed, might work ok if you are just trying to turn it, but if you want to catch the collectors eye, a custom ground blank is your best bet.

YEAH I KNOW.....I RATHER JUST MAKE MY OWN CRYSTAL AND DO MY BEST..AND THAT WILL BE A CUSTOM FIT....I'D TRY THE ONE THAT IS 23x23 AND FILE IT DOWN...I MEAN DON'T THINK I RECOUP MY THE COST OF A 40 CUSTOM FIT CRYSTAL...THE DIAL ON THE WATCH IS FACTORY AND IN GOOD SHAPE BUT NOT PERFECT...I WAS GOING TO GET IT RESTORED BUT IT CAME VERY CLEAN I'LL TAKE A PIC WHEN I GET A CHANCE...

PM me your address and I will send it to you...It is glass, so you will need a whetstone, a couple three hours, and lots of patience.

Greg

Did they not teach you how to parge a crystal on the courses you took?  If not, I have to wonder what else they didn't cover? You will need a wet wheel grinder and then the patienct to develope the feel for what and how much you can parge the glass. This is just a touchy feely thing and usually limited to 1/2 a mm or less . If your dealing with plastic/acrylic use 120 to 180 grit sandpaper. As old ticker states, exersize patience until you have a perfect fit. This is a skill you will only learn by trial and error.
