How to add images to myBulova.com forums & comments

I've got an important question to ask on WW2 A-11 dials and I need to post some pics. What be the trick?

James,

in the forums You need to upload the pics to a host such as photobucket etc, I use imageshack.

The Yellow box is for images, click the box and paste the image URL into the URL line then click ok. keep them at 650 pixels wide.

admin had stumbled across this some time back, Bulova Dial samples along with a lot of Civilian stuff.  IMO it shows there were 6 variations of the Bulova A-11 Dial, 4 showing.

War Department manual AN 05-35A-9 published Jan 1945 shows the Bulova A-11 without a Dial signature. #66-1 on the card above.

To be honest! I'm not a military expert although the bulk of my own collection is Mil issue. Bulova's included. All the watches I've seen Bulova A-11 wise have had the same dial as the one in Fifth's second picture. Holding to my hardheadedness. The parts lot I purchased only had that dial in the lot. Sos Those two out of the way! I may have made myself look like a A#$ making an offer on another parts watch I want to buy. I'd love to know all of the dial configurations Just for the A-11 during War Time production. Two parts watches recently purchased have a dial I would more commonly associate with the Elgin A-11's. Unlike the Skeletal block type with #'s on the tens pictured above. They Also don't look like originals more like NOS as the dial looks fresh with no patina, but the hands have the common patina we see on the originals of the day. The only other Dial I've seen in the Elgin A-11 style has Bulova signed under the 12 and separate indices seen in Fifth's top pic.

I'll let the community follow up on my lacking knowledge. One of my customers turned me on to the Bulova A-11's and now I can't stop the sickness!!!!!!!!!

Can You post a pic? It could possibly be one of the 2 Dials missing from the samples Card (?)

Or... you can hit the yellow box... then hit browse server.  Then wait like 30 seconds or so for the server to kick in... then hit UPLOAD.  Then browse and upload your picture....  then INSERT FILE.

When I hit the image box the image properties box comes up and hangs the window. I then have to use the back button to get it to unhang! What would I be doing wrong?????

After you click on the Yellow box, a image properties box should come up, then click on the browse server button, it may take a few seconds for the new screen to open, when it does, click on the upload tab, then click browse to find the file on your computer, open your selected file and click upload.

After your file appears on the page, close the small upload box and click on the insert file icon, the small image properties box will reappear with your loaded file, click ok and your file will transfer to the comment box.

Just make sure your image is within the allowed size.

I think the problem is in the PC. The window comes up, but none of the related fills in. It just hangs the window. Maybe my firewall settings are the problem? I'll keep working on it.

When you first click on it.... it will be a white popup window for awhile.  I think the server is in Austrailia so it takes awhile.  Sometimes like 30 secs - a minute or two for it to load.  Just leave it open then have some patience.  After that initial time it usually doesn't take that long during your session.  I thought the same thing when I first started upload photos with that system.

That does answer our question about the diff between the blk and wht face, wht is Navy, which would include USMC...

wait til You see the White Dialed A-11 I just snagged shooter..10AKCSH dated 1944 with the #66-40  'NAVY RAD' Dial shown above. - sweet!

Notice none of the Dial examples shown are 'ORD DEPT' (sub dialed), all are A-11 or 'hack'..

The Black Dialed 'ORD's are the rarer version of that group - Black dials w/ Radium numerals.

I saw that watch on the bay and didn't realize that it was military.  I guess you had the smarts to ask a question about any markings on the back.  Good eye and good score.

Fifth,

 Still having problems with the picture thing. Could be this crappy hospital Wifi here at CMH in KC. The Dial on the watch I'm wanting to buy is either one of the two on the card. New Blk or Blk without the RR track indeces. Although someone has replaced the original seconds hand with something that just fit. Not good on paying for watches that don't have original parts. I also think its a NOS dial. My mispreception comes from the RR track dial being more common on the A-11's I've found. Maybe when I get the boy home and get back to the shop my wifi there will have no stipulations on the Image box!!!!

A-11 Dial with 'open' seconds track calibrated at 10 Second intervals, outside. - dated 1944 & 1945.

Fifth, if you have opened those RAD sub sec hands, can you post a pic, I have never seen exactly how those are painted, ie full length or just the pointing end.

according to the War Department Service manual for the 10AK 'ORD DEPT' the sub Seconds Hand showing on Your Watch (Black Dial) is correct.

Publish Date of April 1945.

IMO only the White Dialed 'ORD DEPT's had the 'daggar' style lumed sub seconds hand.

Lumed on the buisness end.

here's a good pic - notice how the dagger Seconds hand is framed, it would then be filled with lume paint.

I guess the Black Dialed 10 AK's did come with this style Hand after all - Watch above looks orig IMO, Crystal having been replaced at some point.

Seems that the specs called for the spade(?) hands like mine...I would rather have the lumed cathedrals with the lumed secs hand myself, looks way cool !!!!

The Arrow style Hands are definately shown on the Black Dial Bulova 10AK 'ORD DEPT' Watch in TM 9 - 1575 but with the non luminous sub Seconds Hand.
