how to make a movement spacer...or any type of spacer for a bulova movement

hello i put together a 8ae senator..the movment doesn't have a spacer,,i have one laying around but compared to a different one its not the same..I dont want to use the wrong spacer and break the balance staff, i have seen that happen(i didn't do it) Anyway i was thinkng about altering the spacer i have that doesn't fit or work...has anyone made or cut anything to work and keep the movement still before? anyway i should go about this...i am pretty sure that i can't be the only one to have this problem...i guess you need a piece to go between the case and the the stem...i think i can use maybe a piece off the wrong spacer, but should go inside the case where it can't be seen,i'd hate to put some ugly piece of cut metal on the old side, the case is practically brand new....Thank you to anyone who can help with advice or their experence....

You might find what you need at an auto parts store...Shim Stock...It comes in different thickness and 1"x 6" strips...you can cut it with a sissors to the size you need, but you will have to be creative with the stem guard.

I've done a couple things, like using a dremel tool to cut a window beside the balance wheel so it can't bind. Best thing is to use the proper movement holder. I've got quite a few a few spares so I could send you a few and hopefully one will work. Consider them in the mail.

thanks for the help..have you used that before...its always the little things that set me back...when it comes to watch repair, honestly the thing i hate the most is putting on a band...it always takes longer than i would think....
