Ladies nurse's watch?

Submitted by Lilyesther on September 5, 2011 - 9:37am

My Dad gave my Mom a double face rectangular watch around 1940s.  It has a second hand face under a minute hand face.  Mom was deaf and this watch enabled her to see if it was running.  I was told it was a nurse's watch back in that era.  On one edge of the back is "499493" and on the other edge is "10k rolled gold plate."  Looking for information to give my granddaughter about this watch.

The only way for us to really help you would be with a clear picture of the watch and any and all info you can get from the back and on the movement inside. If your not comfortable opening the watch, a jeweler would do it for you for free or  very very inexpensively. Just a good pic of the front and back would be very helpfull.

Agree, pictures tell a thousand words. It certainly sounds like a medical watch and these type are usually very sort after pieces. Look forward to seeing some nice photos of the front, back and inside.

Complete Price Guide to Watches page 710. It would pay you to invest in this book if you possess either of these watches.

One is listed as a duo-dial c1935 - gold filled, stainless steel back or All Stainless Steel.

Another is listed as a 2-tone duo-dial - gold filled, stainless steel back or All Stainless Steel.
