So after a watch is no longer in my possession.  Do you gents or Admin think I should delete it entirely from my database on here?

OR

Leave them up here under My Watches as sort of a reference, but making sure to go through and each that are not my personal collection watches nor in my possession anymore and put "SOLD to new owner?"

What do you guys think?

I would say leave it in the database and keep it updated if a name change is in order, maybe marked it sold and put a selling price and date sold for value references??

think we should avoid putting any value on any watches or listing sell prices publicly....could have a price effect on our local auction sites

But I agree should leave it up mark it sold.....almost every vintage web site does that with sold stock...

Well Shooter, I think this site has already had a effect on the Bully market, I don't remember seeing so many Bulova's with names in my 8 years of being a bay resident! :-)

The names is a good thing, helps sell those high dollar Hammies, I just think that if peeps start putting dollar amounts on here, that the ebayers that toss up an un restored straight out of dads top drawer watch that needs work will see what some are getting from here, and start raising bin and min bid prices without considering how much time and effort has gone into what has been sold by most peeps here. Could hurt our abilities to find reasonable prices on restorables.

This site has def had an effect on the bay thats for sure but if we start tossing values and prices around on here, well , so will the bay....

Those that will pay a premium know what it takes to get that watch into that condition, most ebayers with  an estate sale  or such ebay site do not, but would love to try and get that premium without the quality or resto work. Does that make sense??

Yep.... it does Chris.  We've had this discussion a couple times and pretty much came to the same conclusion.  We don't want to set market price if we can help it OR become the "Price Guide" to old Bulovas.

Agree, I had originally thought it would be a good idea as I get many many questions about what a watch is worth. I always tell them to see what they are going for on eBay.

Listing the sale price here will be no good for those wishing to pick up a bargin.

If another member buys a watch off an existing member I can transfer the name over. Just need the two account names.

I must have missed that discussion, but I agree, let the auction sites set the value.

Maybe add to the Intro page something to that effect, because many "what is it" questions are looking for a value?

What do you think about the original question though admin?  Should I keep the ones I've sold up for reference.... or delete them off entirely or....

Most that are gone are not to members I don't think.

No please keep them Plains, as a reference to others if nothing else.

I can always transfer the watch if the new owner one day sees the light and decides to join our little community of addicts.

Agree (with most anyway) NO PRICES. EVER.

Jerin - I guess I would add to the end / bottom of the description "SOLD" and the date. I would also e-mail the buyer the link to myBulova and explain that their "new" watch is ALREADY an internet star and tell them their name can be added to the photos. When I was buying my first Bulova I would have jumped at the chance to be part of this club! ESPECIALLY if the hard part (taking and posting photos) was already done!

Agree with Geoff 100% - No Sold prices.

Watches Sold at Auction are not a true representation of Market value.

I also agree on the change of Ownership idea, if not it's quite possible, if not probable that duplicate Watches will be listed.
