Replacing the band of a Super Seville ?

Submitted by Watch4Vintage on May 3, 2013 - 9:18am

Hello everybody, I just purchased a Super Seville 2783 and it came with an aftermarket leather band and was wondering if i could replace it with an ACCUTRON COMPUTRON 18 MM  band? I'm pretty new to collecting watches and am just wondering if this band would fit the bezel. Thanks, Steve

Hi watch4 - welcome to myBulova. I think watch mounting is a matter of personal preference. The Super Seville originally came with a metal bracelet that curved to meet the watch case seamlessly. If you were aiming for originality, I would go that direction. Having said that, I rather like the leather strap mounting shown in the photo above (is that your watch?). In terms of appearance, I don't think there's an issue with the straight edge of the leather strap adjacent to the curved edge of the watch case. If you are going with the metal bracelet, be sure to measure the lug spacing accurately and know that the curve match is a bit tricky.

I'm  kinda sorta going for originality but i prefer leather over metal bands. Yes that is my watch in the picture. I feel the current leather band is to thin and the thicker ORIGINAL Bulova band would look better. I will measure lug to lug and contact the seller to measure the band.  Thanks Geoff for the info, this site is great btw especially for rookies Bulova collectors like me.
