Watchmakers

Hey Guys, I need some advice.

I have a WWII ORD Dept Watch missing a Minute Hand. I found N.O.S. Hands that appear identical but are for the Hamilton 987A

assuming the U.S. ORD Dept mandated the Hand design shared by all Watch manufacturers be identical in the given spec. order (Hands outsourced perhaps??)  I have a question.

Q: Is the 4th wheel pinion on the Hamilton 987 the same as the pinion on the 10AK, will the 10AK carry the Hamilton ORD Watch Hahds?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Fith,

The 987 has a .14mm pinnon, and the 10ak has a .22mm pinion so no they wont interchange, very easily, without brouching, or tighting

Hope this helps..   Mike..

I just went and looked at my bulova military movement and dial that are all original, and my second hand is a open seconds hand and it has luminous in the second hand, It's not just a stick hand like above.

Mike,

Thanks for the info, ugh !

Yes I agree, the Seconds Hand on the Bulova ORD shown above is incorrect. The ORD DEPT Watch I own missing the Minute Hand is here: http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1942-military-1506 radium burns on a Dial are hard to duplicate?

I have another ORD showing a much later Serial # with entirely different Hour and Minute Hands,  'A-11' style but the Sub Seconds Hand remains the same. http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1942-military-1486 I believe this Watch to be an original piece also.

Mark.
